Getting StartedFirst-week playbook

First-week playbook

A practical day-by-day plan for admins launching Atlas - from sign-in through first integration sync and executive readout.

Overview

This playbook assumes you are an admin setting up Atlas for a startup or small security team. Adjust timing if you are joining an org that already completed onboarding.

Viewers can follow along on read-only pages while admins complete write steps.

Day 1 - Foundation

Sign in and confirm admin role

Open atlas.datawall.net. If you are first in, you are admin. See Roles and access.

Invite core team

Add security, engineering, and compliance leads in Settings → Team Members. Give at least one backup admin.

Finish company profile

Complete step 1 of Onboarding - org name, industry, size.

Pick frameworks

Select active programs (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, etc.). Open Frameworks overview to see what each workspace includes.

Day 2 - Assessment

Run the CIS assessment

Work through all seven pillars in Assessment. Use Partial honestly - it improves roadmap accuracy.

Submit

Submit once reviewed. Dashboard score, Roadmap, Tasks, and Risks populate from this snapshot.

Scan the radar

On Dashboard, note weakest pillars - usually Third-Party or Workforce for early-stage teams.

Day 3 - Execution

Triage Do now items

Open Roadmap → Do now. Assign owners and due dates in Tasks.

Attach first evidence

Upload a policy PDF or link to a ticket - closes onboarding step 5 and proves the workflow.

Ask vCISO

Use the floating advisor to explain top gaps in plain language for leadership.

Day 4 - Live data

Connect AWS or GCP

Follow Integrations. Start with the cloud account that holds production workloads.

Sync and verify

After sync, check Inventory, Security 360, and Vulnerabilities.

Connect GitHub or KiteCyber

Add codebase or endpoint coverage when ready - feeds AI Governance and endpoint inventory.

Day 5 - Report out

Executive View PDF

Open Executive View. Download the PDF for leadership or auditors.

Framework workspace check

Open your primary framework (e.g. SOC 2 or ISO 27001). Review control readiness and mapped tasks.

Weekly rhythm

Schedule a 30-minute weekly review: score delta, Do now tasks, open HIGH findings, integration sync health.
